I have had some problems with the acceleration for some time now. I think that I started to notice it shortly after the 18000km service, and when I had the exhaust replaced at 22785km, it was so evident that the mechanic noticed it. At the 24000km service the mechanic checked the vario, and the only explanation he could find was that the discs in the vario are showing signs of wear. The are not below spec. yet, but the are clearly damaged, and they are expensive to replace. The outer disc has a lot of grooves that can easily be felt with a nail, but the inner dist is worse. It has a few holes in the crome plating, but it is the long grove ~1cm from the center that causes the problem. The belt has trouble passing it, and that is what causes the acceleration problem.
After the incident with the roller that turned sideways it has gotten even worse. Enstead of replacing the discs I have had some 9.0g Polini rollers put in - and it helps. It does not cure the problem completely, but because of the lighter weights (Org. rollers are 9,5g) the motor revs a bit higher and that is enough to keep it accelerating happily across the 40-50km/h range.
The polini roller are available in 8,4g 9,0g 9,5g and 10,2g and i have bought them from http://www.rollershop24.com. It is the red Polini rollers on the left and the Aprilia ones on the right.

I then cleaned the org. rollers and got a supprise. The inner aluminium had been worn on the ends !. They are all perfectly round, without any flat spots, but the inner weight has been grindet off. The worst affected roller was down under 9g. The average weight of them is down to ~9.2g
The picture show a good and the worst of the rollers. For the picture I first pressed the inner aluminium down, so you can see the difference in length of what is left. Next I turned them around, so you can see the worn end. I suspect that the are worn in this way because of the worn out slide pieces. But I had to clean the grease of them to see it.
So with the odometer at 26350km and new rollers I am buzzing happily around again, and has postponed the change to a Malossi vario.
