Spare Parts - Engine & Transmission

One of the first performance parts for the 125/150cc enginea was the Daytona camshaft, and now both Malossi and polini produces complete big-bore kits to increase the power of the leonardo engines. But the are not the only ones. There is also few other manufacturers of transmission parts.

See my tuning page, for peoples experiences with these kits/parst

Bettella [I]

Unlike some others (with shall remain anonymous) you can ask questions directly to Bettella by email and the even answer them :). I have heard that Scooter Center Köln [D] might sell bettella parts as well as the more common polini and malossi brands - but no prices yet.

Daytona

As far as i know Daytona is a japanese company. The should be famous for making performance parts for motorcycles but I don't know of any other producr specially for scooters. But I do know that they make tachos (rpm counters). Yasushi Ono (Jun) has fitted one to his leo. It actually look good, since he has taken the timen to make a proper houseing for it. There is links direclt to the tacho pages from the Malossi Multivar sections on the tuning page.

Camshaft
Performance camshaft for the leo. It increases the power with ~10%, but be carefull to check the valve tolerances more often than the standard 6000km. From Leonardo Club Italia [I] I have heard about two damaged engines after fitting this camshaft. Both after ~10000km - so be carefull. An rotax engineer also warned about it in Scooter & Sport because of small tolerances. Read more about in the tuning section.

Polini [I]

The prices from Motoline is including the german 16 % vat. If the send it to you in Denmark, they will enstead charge you with the danish 25%vat. So you'll have to add 7% to the prices shown. You can ofcourse also just pick it up from their shop in Harrislee. It is a good excuse for some border shopping of beer and wine in germany :)

According to an article in Scooter Magazine [I] it should be possible to get 13ps on the back wheel and reach a topspeed of more than 120km/h on the road (145km/h on the dyno).

Cylinder kit
Motoline lists it with a 66,0mm bore in their year 2000 catalogue. But I have read an article about it in Scooter Magazine [I] where Polini write that it has a 67mm bore. But compared to the standard engines 56,4mm and 62,0mm it is still bigger.

Malossi [I]

If you look in the the usenet group it.hobby.motociclismo.scooter, you will see that malossi is the most talked about brand in performance parts for the leonardo. They also have a very good reputation for making quality parts. Here are some of their parts, but they are also close to releasing their big bore kit.
