Rear wheel

I've gotten the rear wheel powder coated black, a long with some other parts.

Tyres

Aprilia only approves of 140/70-12 as the rear tyre for the leonardo 125 and 150 and 130/70-12 for the 250.

The leo came fitted with Pirelli SL26. My tyre choice has been limited by what I could get locally since I don't have the tools to fit them myselfes. I've had the following fitted.

The original SL26 was worn down after only 4700km. I then went trough two pairs of Schwalbe (winter) and Sava (summer) before trying out a Heidenau. The Danish aprilia importer also imports Schwalbe and Sava so that is often what the official aprilia dealers will try to sell you here in Denmark.

Tyre Mileage Comment
Pirelli SL 26
140/70-12
4789km
Schwalbe Powertrack
140/70-12
6235km Punctured on a nail, but I kept it running for another thousand kilometers on "foam" from a presurised can.
Sava MC16
140/70-12
7067km This tyre needed a lot of weight (50g) on the rim to be balanced proberly. I replaced it when I got the wheel painted even trough its less than half worn
Schwalbe Powertrack
140/70-12
5935km
Sava MC16
140/70-12
6174km
Heidenau K58
140/70-12
8480km Many Germans recommend the K58 for its wet weather performance and I'm also happy with it. Punctured on a after only 800km. So since the tyre was almost new I had it plugged by Søborg MC. It was airtight for several thousand kilometers but after arround 5000km it started leaking so had to pump it once or twice a week.
Heidenau K58
140/70-12
Running I've choosen the same once again as a good compromise for all year riding.
Average 6447km

Look on the parts page for more about tyres in the right sizes.

Ball bearings

The ball bearings on the outer end of the rear wheel shaft (below the exhaust) does not last to long for me. I even had a ball bearing fail completely so had to call for road assistence to get home :-(

Two size 6004 is needed and the fully sealed is recommented (2RS1).
