Front wheel

I've gotten the front wheel powder coated black, a long with some other parts.

Tyres

Aprilia approves two sizes for the front - 130/70-12 and 120/70-12. I prefer the first since the speedometer is even more inaccurate when riding on the smaller tyre. But some find the handling better with the smaller one.

The leo came fitted with Pirelli SL26. My tyre choice has been limited by what I could get locally since I don't have the tools to fit them myselfes. I've had the following fitted.

For the winter 1998/1999 i got the Schwalbe but put the Pirelli back on when spring came back. I did the same again for the winter 1999/2000 and rode with that until the summer of 2000 where i got the Sava. That staid on trough the winters 2000/2001 and 2001/2002, but after my crash on a wet cold road i did'nt have much confidence in it. So I choose to replace it when I had it of the wheel.

Tyre Mileage Comment
Pirelli SL 26
130/70-12
11580km Not much left (At least not enough that I would ride it during the winter - and not enough that I would pay for having it fitted again)
Schwalbe Powertrack
120/70-12
12446km The front tyre still had a lot of "thread" in the middle but was beginning to show cracks and the left side was almost worn down (round about side ...).
Sava MC16
130/70-12
14654km This tyre needed a lot of weight (50g) on the rim to be balanced proberly. I replaced it when I got the wheel painted even trough its less than half worn
Heidenau K58
130/70-12
Running  Many Germans recommend the K58 for its wet weather performance. So far i'm happy even trough it feels a bit like the scooter is falling into turns
Average 12893km

Look on the parts page for more about tyres in the right sizes.

Ball bearings

I've replaced the front wheel bearings a few times, but they have lasted over 12000km a set. I think its the salty danish winter weather that has killed them. (And the last replacement at 38680km was only because I had to take the old ones out to get the wheel powder coated.

Two size 6201 is needed and the fully sealed is recommented (2RS1).
