Introduction

From spring 1997 until the summer of 1998 I was riding a 50ccm Peugeot Speedfight AC. In Denmark 50ccm scooters are restricted to 45 km/h. I was quite happy with it, but I soon removed the restriction in the exhaust and changed to a Polini vario. Then it ran around 60-70 km/h. But I was afraid of getting stopped by the police and the risk of being involved in an accident on a modified scooter. So I started looking for something more powerful and legal.

But before buying a bigger scooter or a motorcycle I had to get a motorcycle driver licence. In Denmark you are allowed to drive the 50ccm with a car licence but anything bigger and you need the bike licence. They come in two sizes - A1 or A2 for small or big motorcycles. I opted for the big ones as I was old enough, and the cost is about the same.

Then I decided on an Aprilia Leonardo 150 which I bought secondhand on 17 August 1998. It was three months old and had only 450km on the clock and I paid 37500kr for it (the OTR price for a new one was at that time 42500kr (5700€, 5200$) so I saved 5000kr (670€, 615$)).

My reason for starting on these pages, was that I could not find any leonardo pages in english (except Aprilia's own). I've collected a lot of material since I bought the scooter, and are constantly looking for more information. I will publish it as soon as I have organised and edited it. All of my pages will be updated regularly (That is my intentions anyway ...), and I appreciate all comments - especially if links does not work, or my bad spelling cause misunderstandings (English is not my native language. Sometime my fingers hit the wrong keys, and nobody proof reads what I write ...).

I will also be very happy to receive further material (Preferably in danish, english or german), and hope that I (with your help) can build this site, to be of use and entertainment to all Leonardo owners (and wannabies...)
