I had bought some cheap saddlebags from Louis for ~90DM. But they did'nt survice the first long trip. We were about half ways between Århus and Viborg, when I saw an orange glow in the mirror.
Yes the right saddlebag was on fire and when we stopped the flames was level with the top of the luggage box. I almost pushed my girlfriend of the scooter (she had'nt noticed what was going on) and I teared the luggage off and stamped out the fire. The right blinker was also on fire and I put it out with my gloved hand.
I was lucky. The only damage to the scooter was the right blinker which burned with the saddlebag (incl. my girlsfriends clothes - my own stuff was in the other side :-). Before we took off I had checked that there was at least 5cm between the bag and the exhaust but it must have moved ...
I don't have pictures of the fire itself. I had other priorities than taking pictures...
Here is first two pictures of the burned blinker. About 1/3 of it is just gone up in the flames. I managed to get it working for the ride home. The bulb did not survive the heat. But I just put in a new bulb and kept it in place with silicone. I ordered a new blinker the following monday, but the first one they got hold off had to short a wiring, so I rode with the burned one for almost 14 days (And the bulb stayed in the silicone and was working the whole time...).
